Recent winners of Spain’s MAX Award for Best Street Theatre Performance for Fugit—the equivalent of an Tony’s for street arts in Europe—cement their place among the most influential and original voices in the field.
Kamchàtka shows deal with the essence of theatre in public space and which all at once crosses all boarders between theatre, game and life itself, amongst others. It’s praise for simplicity and spontaneity, an attempt to regain our humanity, a new way of looking at life and at the Other. Street Theatre conveys, provokes and changes common spaces and situations into exceptional deeds. Setting out from the inhabitants’ everyday life, Kamchàtka creates a parallel universe, a space for dialogue, where the spectator becomes an active part of the exchange and the experimentation.
Open to the world around them, they respond to its complexity with simplicity and with the power of the emotions they evoke. If we would only let ourselves be carried away by them, they will show us how to view everything as if it were the first time we are seeing it, teach us to look at ourselves through their eyes.

Eight silent strangers wander the city, each carrying a suitcase—are they travelers, immigrants, or reflections of ourselves? Their subtle, unscripted interactions blur the line between fiction and reality, inviting audiences into a powerful, participatory encounter. Kamchàtka is a poetic mirror held up to our reactions to the unfamiliar, asking: will we welcome the Other—or turn away?
“FUGIT: “a show that changes you a little” Observer, UK. Part performance, part a game, part scene observed the pedestrians that become the main audience along the ticketed group. Suggestive and evocative flight that rather than being only an attempt at running away is a means of resisting. The story of those who have left, of those who will be leaving and of all those who have played a crucial role in assisting them. A homage to those who have had the courage to abandon the unnecessary, leave the familiar behind and move on, striving for a better world. The audience will have to choose too.
